Prospect Hill Tower Opening Celebration 2016

1. Here is our mayor, Joe Curtatone, starting things off, pointing back and over his shoulder to the repaired Prospect Hill Tower.

2. And here it is, behind a curtain of late summer trunks, branches and leaves.

3. Here is a wonderful cake created by Lyndell's Bakery. http://lyndells.com/. What a nice work of art.

4. Brandon fronting lots of information about the Tower and Somerville's work in keeping the town just right.

5. Docent, Eileen. And there is Brandon's hat.

6. Ribbon still tied. Ready to open up.

  1. Wonderful review of the official opening in Sept. 2016 of the Tower post its Community Preservation (CPA)-funded stabilization work in 2015 and early 2016. Thank you, Skip, for documenting and enabling those who would prefer NOT to climb all those stairs, to enjoy both the interior and expansive views of the region from atop the ~70 foot Tower! This was also the launch of our newly established Docent Program which will open the Tower periodically during the seasonal months with volunteer guides provided through the City and Historic Somerville, Inc. Please check the Somerville Historic Preservation Commission's website for further times and details.

What a day. What a journey. What a place in U.S. history.
